Hello fellow members,
I got my 34 ADF carb rebuilt on my '80 carbureted spider last fall and the thing ran beautifully. However, when I took it out for the summer season, the idle started acting up. When the engine is cool, there is no problem. Once the engine reaches the temp zone (fan starts to kick on) the idle is extremely rough, causing the engine to stall at red lights. I turned in the idle speed screw temporarily to avoid stalling, but the rough idle is still present. Any ideas?

Could be any number of things. Most likely is that something in your idle circuit is clogged. I would take the carb apart and blow out all passages with compressed air.
Also mine (32ADHA) did the same thing. Could not figure it out until I shined flashlight down the throat of the carb when it was running and fully warmed up. Fuel was dripping out of the main jet venturi onto the throttle plate, messing with the idle mixture. The trick was to turn the idle mixture screw further out. Everything always takes the path of least resistance, so making it easier for fuel to flow through the idle circuit did the trick.
