Injector Installation Hell

So...yeah, how do those injectors go back in? I tried with the rail, I tried w/o the rail, I tried with lube, I tried putting the outer ring seal in first. It's like not even close. Okay, I did have to learn that the PO left the inner seals inside. That drove me mad for a bit. Now it seems like I bought the wrong seals. So I give up: how does one get the injectors in nice and tight? Am I missing some trick?

Two seals on the injector, rubber rings. One large at the body and one small near the nozzle. The injector should slide in. Bayless has them

Ah, went back through my records. Purchased these on ebay... "SK3 standard" set of all eight. I'm going to step out on a limb and suggest they are crap.

I used the seals from the local parts store "help card" pn 90100 The card contains an assortment of seals for 6 cylinder engine. The black square sided seals are the correct size for the Bosch injectors. The kit costs around $10

Take Two:

I bought a set of German seals. I noticed they are slightly beveled, both the large and small seals. Great. Greased them up and, no. No, no, no. I'm drinking again. Oh my gosh, what is the deal? I get the small seal in, start kind of working it, good...and then notice the big seal is rubbing out of its groove on the injector. And this was as much luck as I had in the most forward injector port. I've no idea how I will reach the back injector port.

Surely someone else has had to struggle to get these damn things installed. What is the secret that I'm missing?

I have been using the help card 90100 seals with no issues for years. Pretty sure I have installed at least 10 sets on my and my friends FI Spiders. Available at almost any suto parts store

Spider2081, I'm sure the German seals are fine. They fit perfectly on the injectors.
But how did you install the injectors? I feel like there is some technique that I'm missing, some way in which they should just slide in, or I twist, or push or something.

The large outer seal should fit loosely in the large opening in the manifold with out the injector installed in it. Hose lengths for injectors are about 2and 3/4 inch long. There are a lot of large seals being sold that do not fin into the intake manifold. If it doesn't fit easily with out the injector it can't fit with the injector as the injector makes the outside diameter of the seal larger.

Hm. No, the big seal does not easily slip into place. I have to pinch it to get it to go and even then it is not easy. So, I did not think this mattered at all but the car is a turbo. My understanding is that they had the same injectors as the normally aspirated spiders. And I've never read that the intake was different. Like...they would have used a seal that was slightly smaller??? Seems to weird. But then, I'm not sure what is happening and why the seals won't fit.

AND... I wrote to the good persons at Vick's and they actually called me. Told me to forget German seals and just take a razor and cut mine down to size. I did. It was not fun. Buy at the end: Bam, they just popped right in like they should have from the start. Go Vicks Motorsports!
