Older Door handles (78) schematics?

Does anyone have a diagram or blown up schematics of the door lock assembly?

I purchased new handles and tumblers.. put back together and cannot get the doors to lock / unlock from the exterior. The button it self opens the doors fine.

How does the interior handles work? Press lever down to unlock and open / pull lever up to lock?

What about exterior? Turn key toward rear to lock / front to unlock?

I may have installed the ball connector upside down? I’ll get pics Friday postedz

Sorry I don't have a diagram. However on my car ('74) it's pull the inside lever up to open the door and click it down to lock.

Interesting. After looking into it more, I don’t think the 78 locks the doors at all from the inside. It only releases the latching

Up to open down to lock with the inside handles on the 78 too. The doors do have to be fully closed and the catch 100% engaged for it all to work.

I gotta ask why you'd want to lock the doors of a roadster. A new convertible top is a lot more expensive than anything most of us have available to steal. Ditto the glovebox. Keep important stuff in the trunk. As for stealing the entire car, there are many threads here on the difficulty of removing the ignition key cylinder even when you have the correct key. If that's your concern, add an electrical cutoff in the trunk.

The car is kept in a private parking garage, where people often get their car rummaged through if the door isn’t locked.

I’m on board with your statement.. I’ll leave the top down and keys in the ignition on a sunny day!

Many insurance carriers would disagree and use no sign of forced entry as reason to deny a claim.

Even if they got past the club on the steering wheel and defeated the ignition lock they would have to figure out how to start an old school diesel before they burnt out the 2 KW starter or killed the battery on mine in order to drive off with it however I use the battery kill switch in the trunk too when I am not leaving the car unattended for more than just a few minutes.

At work and at the beach many can't resist the photo opp and will jump into your top down car for a quick selfie however I have found some even like to stay to eat lunch. Found greasy hand prints and the remains of someones fried chicken lunch on my motorcycle too.

So its top up and locked whenever I am leaving it unattended for more than a quick run in and out.
