About to send my 78 spider of to paint (finalllllllly!) and while its in the shop, thought about replacing the windshield. Im already pulling all the trim off before delivery, so what a few extra bolts?

Question:
1) Has anyone successfully re-polished the windshield frame? (pics? recommendations)?
2) My gasket is pretty brown.. any chance of restoring back to black (heat? chemicals?) or spend the $$$ on new?

Mothers alloy polish does a good job of polishing the frame
Boot polish helps restore the black on rubber (for a while)
might be better to buy a new gasket for the glass if you are taking it off anyway.
