Question: proper jack stowage?

Hey folks, can anyone tell me how the jack should be properly stowed? I have soft tool kit, the rubber strap. There is a receiving hole above the real wheel opening, into which the screw of the jack will fit. Does the back of the jack then rest on the tool kit, get strapped, and just hang there? Can't find a diagram and the whole setup seems goofy. Anyone have a clue? Trying to minimize rattles. Have enough of those...

Knock on wood, but been driving ours like that since we got her. We keep a set of jumper cables in a case between the jack and fender though...It does seem like a very vulnerable area to just rely on the rubber strap.

I've always kept a thick towel folded over and put it between the jack and quarter panel, just in case.
Mine has a brace in the rear that holds the bottom end of the jack fairly well.

Odd how they kept changing the design of how to hold the same jack.
