Hvlp turbine sprayer

Looking for opinions on using an hvlp sprayer for repainting my 81. I love my well sorted car but the color doesnt turn my crank. I'm thinking of a nice blue.

I was looking at this model from Fujitsu.

I would experiment on a scrap piece of steel and see what results I could get 1st.

Paint on car seems pretty solid so I'd probably rough down to primer and prime paint and clear over it.

I had a similar unit--a CapSpray CS9100--about fifteen years ago, and it was great for industrial painting (handrail and similar architectural metal fabrications), but I'm not sure that it was up to automotive quality painting. Find a dealer and see if they'll demo it for you before plunking your money down, preferably with the same paint system that you'd be using on your car.

Your car sounds nice...I'd make sure that your paint gun is up to the task before finding out the hard way that it's not.
