I'm trying to gather a bit of information from the Spider population out there..
My '1982 Black spider has two tone tan pinstripes, which based on the history of the car should be original. My curious questions are:
https://flic.kr/p/Y3diKa
1. Does anyone know if there was factory pinstriping? Or would it have been a dealer prep item to add the pinstripes in '82?
2. Is there something specific to the Turbo model relating to pinstriping? The reason I ask this is the only other time I've seen the two tone stripes is on a scale model I have. I have a model of a "1981 Fiat Spider Turbo" which looks nearly identical to my actual '82 non-turbo car (black w/ dual stripes).
The other interesting thing is my car seems to have an original 2-tone interior. Tan seats and top, tan radio/center consoles, tan lower door cards, but black dash and upper door trim. I'm thinking maybe by the end of '82 they started using up inventory and got creative? I absolutely love the way it all looks, I'm just trying to figure out how it came to be..

Very nice looking car! Pretty sure all pin striping was a dealer add but don't take that to the bank. As for the two tone interior, I had an 80 like that and I think a lot of the 81 anniversary cars were like that. Maybe they just decided it looked good and offered some cars that way but I am pretty sure that IS factory.

My white '82 (non-turbo) had a tan interior with a black dash and the door cards were tan with a black top section. When I refurbished the interior the replacement door cards were all tan. Pretty sure that the factory did not pin stripe and like a radio was a dealer add-on.

Good to know there are some 2-tones out there!
It sounds like pinstriping, A/C, and radios were typical dealer prep items then

According to my window sticker, the wire wheel covers, pin striping, rust proofing, and AM/FM radio were dealer options, totaling $357.
None of those items remain on the car today, although the wheel covers and radio are probably somewhere in the attic.
