Tried to rebuilt the AFM myself. Cleaned everything, ensured flap was not binding, adjusted sweeper arm to ensure good track, made adjustments to get engine idling/running well and checked O2 output at sensor. Runs fairly well but some hesitation especially when the engine is cold.
Has anyone used these guys?

They are in CA but in the off season was thinking about shipping it off to them to ensure it's adjusted correctly. Any other places that know how to rebuild the Spider AFM?

Re: AFM rebuild
The question that comes to mind is: Do they replace the worn TFM board? Or move the wiper to a new position, clean and reuse the TFM board? Haven't been able to get a definitive answer yet.

Re: AFM rebuild
Plenty of discussion on the forum about this company. Last I saw here, someone was trying to reach them without success.

Re: AFM rebuild
Just talked to the person at Fuel Injection Corp. in California where they rebuild the AFMs. Here's what she mentioned...
- I mentioned I had an '81 Fiat Spider and she said they do rebuild these
- she needed the Bosch # (off the black plastic cover she said) that usually starts with 0280 to confirm 100%
- will be retuned back to OE specification
- cost is between $195 to $250 U.S.
- the tracer board will be replaced if required but in most cases the arm is moved - not sure if there is extra cost
- turnaround time once they receive it is 3 to 5 days
- they will charge $14.00 return shipping to the anywhere in the U.S. (I'll probably get it shipped back to UPS store in Ogdensburg because I'm in Canada)
I'll probably get mine done over the Spider hibernation months.

Re: AFM rebuild
Excellent! I am now putting this on my to-do-list too. And we finally have a definitive answer as to what they do with the TFR board.

Re: AFM rebuild
I've been a big (and insistent) booster of Fuel Injection Corp. here on the forum, as their refurbishment of my AFM was the single most important thing I've done to improve my Spider. I always say, if you have an FI Spider and you have reason to believe the AFM has never been serviced, go ahead and have it refurbished before you do anything else. In my case, the flap on my AFM was stuck in an outward, open position. It was, in other words, not metering the air at all, though the car did run - poorly. In addition, the fuel pump electrical contact in the AFM was bent, causing the FP to start running before the car was started.
I am very interested to learn they say that in most cases, the sweeper arm is moved. I recall their telling me that they always replace the board. Perhaps their policy has changed.
In any event, it's the best ~$200 I've spent on the car.

Re: AFM rebuild
Before spring driving begins I'm going to send my AFM away to get it refurbished or maybe just get a refurbished unit.
