Post by vincefiat »

Thank You all for the warm welcome. I guess I'll get right to it. Having problems with the Fiat. Anyone
know of a mechanic in the Montreal/Laval that you could recommend. Thanks Again.

Sounds like multiple things: suspension (tie rods, etc), drive shaft support, I think
The input bearing transmission, and several leaks.

Try Garage Vince.
8554 10e ave
Mtl Qc. H1Z 3B6
Tel.: 514-593-4951

Also: Garage Rado
588 ch. de la Riviere Nord
St Eustache Qc.
J7R 7E3
450-473-5051

Both of them are experienced in Fiats.
You need to bring them the parts, they have little or no connections to the vendors on this site. For parts on the fly in Montreal you can contact :
Lubrimont Imp
(Remo)
8960 Metropolitain East
Anjou, Qc.
H1K 5A4
(514) 352-2447
$$

Hope this helps.

Wow, you think that much. Bought it knowing I needed to put some money into it but not thousands.
Don't have the space, any tools or know much about mechanics.

Salut Vince
Just get done what you need to keep it safe. Hopefully that will not cost you thousands...
Get it safe and start enjoying it. Get to know it and what it wants/needs.
Over time you can throw more money at it to make it more reliable and/or pretty.
Bonne chance.

padeproblaim
Reminds me of when I bought my 68.
It was orange with lotsa bondo bubbles, blew enough oil to kill most of the mosquitoes in the Ottawa area, leaked its' own rustproofing, the roof was leaky with a cracked rear window, needed brakes, a few ball joints and other things...but when I got that Spider up to 80 Mph on a test drive (forgot old cars are Mph) in a 80Kph zone I couldn't wipe the smile of my face. Had to buy her, and have yet to regret it. Sure, over the last 15 years I have probably put "thousands" into her. But for all those thousands, I have had over 80,000 miles of pleasure. Considering the "thousands" my Wrangler, Sonata and other cars have costs me, my Fiat has been the best bang for the buck.

Hopefully Arik can drag you out to Raduno Montebello this year. It would be nice to meet up and share a pint or two.

Raduno Montebello, Château Montebello, Sunday, 24. September 2017

This is a major event, the final for the season, put on by our partner AMiCi clubs in the Ottawa and Montreal area. All the Ottawa Italian car clubs (ICCO, FCA Ferrari Ottawa, Alfa Romeo Club of Ottawa and Team Pantera Canada Ottawa) will be meeting up with our friends from Montreal (Club Fiat Montreal, FCA Ferrari Quebec, Luigi Ferrari Quebec, Team Pantera Canada Montreal, Club Alfa Romeo Montreal, VEA) This is one of the nicest events of the season, held at a beautiful location; Chateau Montebello! Vehicles park on the lawn by the waterfront like a Concours d'élégance. Arrival time at Chateau Montebello should be between 11am-11:30am.

Montebello is about a little over an hour from Laval (110ish kms)
Although they put on a great brunch at the Chateau, a small group of us go to"Le Louis-Joseph" in Plaisance for brunch.
Hope you can make it.
Here is a video I made of the 2015 Raduno (note due to the music in this video it cannot be viewed on some portable devices) Laptop/PC usually work

Looks amazing, not sure my fiat will fit it or make the ride- needs some work before taking it for long hauls. Keep me posted , hopefully next year. Thanks for all the help.

Vince, if you're not sure whether your Spider will be ready for Raduno, i can determine that for you. Give me a shout, i can come over and take it out for a 10 minute intense workout. Phaetn can vouch for that, i found his to be pretty safe. He's got that featured somewhere in his videos.
No, but seriously, if your car is too new to you to trust on a roadtrip, i can pick you up and we can head to Montebello together. We will look around at other Fiats and Italian cars, we'll bring along some brews, take pics, story-tell about what our Fiats did to us this summer and what we have in store for them in the future. We're usually so into our own little group that we eventually wander off to the Louis-Joseph for lunch and then we line up our cars on the local church grounds and take the annual photoshoot.
It ends off as a sad day for me because this day marks my last drive of the season.
It's all conditional however to a good weather forecast.
Let me know, message me!

That would be amazing. If I could get the suspension and a few other things fixed I think it would be safe to drive. Otherwise it would be amazing to witness this events, sounds amazing. Do you know a place that I can order parts online at a reasonable price that ships to Canada.
