This week I started my spider (1980 124 carb) as normal, drove for 45 mins and parked, sat for 30 or
so, then it would not start. Engine would turn as normal but no sign
of firing up. Seemed to smell gas. Let sit for 8 hours and still the
same outcome. Had it towed to my house where is sat for 2 days.
Tried to start it and it just gave me a click.. A single click
every time I turned the key. Pulled the battery, it was discharged but
not dead. Charged to full, pull in and got the same click. Had the battery tested to be sure. All good. Starter?
All ignition wires, the rotor, the cap look brand new. Not sure about
the coil.
Thoughts?

Re: starting issue
If it turned over but no start, and you smelled gas. Maybe it is leaking gas? Check your fuel lines and carb. My 1800 recently started leaking from the carb.
