Oil from brake booster vacuum

A year or so ago, while troubleshooting my carburetor, I disconnected the brake booster and capped it. Braking wasn't so bad without it, so I kept delaying putting it back on - until today. When I removed the cap, there was a small amount of oil which had pooled inside of the cap.

For background, last summer I had the intake manifold replaced by a shop, and the summer before that, I had a lot of engine and related work done for leaks (gaskets, seals, etc.)

So, should I be worried? Could this affect my braking? How would oil get there, anyway?

Can there be any hard to having the booster connected properly now?

Also, it's very cold and rainy here in Cleveland, so I haven't driven the car yet.

Possibly the master cylinder is leaking fluid into the booster.
