Oil Leak

Post by ralphcap »

I have an oil leak on the exhaust side by the firewall and it is dripping on my exhaust downpipe. I think it's coming from the rear of the cam box. What is that plate on the rear end of the cam box. I can barely see it. Could it be originating from there? I don't think it's coming from the distributor seal or the exhaust manifold stud.

Is this what you're talking about?

I picked up some of these gaskets myself recently but haven't found the time to install them.

If I remove the Cam Box Housing Rear Cover to replace the gasket will oil leak out (a little or a lot)?

That high up on the engine, it can only be a little. A well-positioned rag should catch most everything.
