79 transmission in 78?
I know the 1979 model year transmission had slightly different gear ratios than the other years. I currently have a spare tranny out of a 79 that I'd like to use in my 78 until I can rebuild the 78 tranny (has a noisy bearing). Is there any problems doing this? What issues/differences am I likely to run into or notice? The ratios look REALLY close, but maybe that makes a bigger difference than I realize.

AFAIK the transmission is the same. There was a change in the rear end ratio.

I'm pulling the different ratios from Brad Artique's book (page 188):

1: 3.667
2: 2.100
3: 1.361
4: 1
5: 0.881
R: 3.244
1979-1980:
1: 3.612
2: 2.045
3: 1.357
4: 1
5: 0.830
R: 3.244
