On the top of the cylinder head are 2 temp sensors. I know one goes to the temp gauge. Where does the other on go? This is a continuing saga of the infamous hunt for resolving cooling issues. When engine gets hot (just before the fan does NOT turn on), The temp gauge pegs hot. so just trying to kill another gremlin.

On my '80 Fi, the sender closest to the front (i.e. the rad) is the sender that "pegs" the needle. Mine was doing the same thing as yours. The needle was pegging even though the engine was not all that hot. To test - disconnect the sender and see if the needle still pegs. You can buy new senders from AR.

If you have the external thermostat, make sure it is installed correctly. The port you cannot blow through attaches to the lower radiator hose.
