Changing valve cover and cam box to head gaskets...

It looks pretty straight forward, but was wondering if anyone has any tips for something that maybe isn't quite so obvious. The drivers side gaskets look ok, but passenger side are both brittle and leaking. Figured I'd do both sides while I'm in there.

Fwiw, the gasket set I found is a Felpro kit from Advance Auto for $64. It was unavailable through other common parts stores. Has all the gaskets down to the head. The cam box to head gaskets didn't come separately, apparently. Figured I'd eventually be using most of them, anyway, so why not get them all at once?

I'd consider checking the valve clearances after the cam to head gasket replacement.

My understanding is that after replacing the cam box gaskets and torquing to spec you should let the materials settle for 24 hours and THEN check the valve clearances.

Here is a head set for less money and likely better quality. The last FelPro set I saw had crappy cork valve cover gaskets. FWIW we also sell all the gaskets separately:

After replacing the head to cam-tower gasket you will have to check, and very likely adjust the valve clearances. They are adjusted via changing the shims that go between the cam and the valve.

So definitely skipped the cam box gasket...wasn't ready for timing belt and everything else that goes along with it.

Fwiw, the cam cover knob gaskets/washers were a pain in the ass. Finally got some 1/2 inch fiber washers and they're all tightened and sealed good now.
