Replacing the differential

Greetings, We live in New Zealand we have a 1981 2000 Spider auto that has a whine in the diff. I have checked the oil and it has plenty. I was going to pull the diff apart, thinking it may be the pinion bearing, but then I have found a dismantler who is dismantling a 1983 Fiat 131 Mirafiori CL. Does anyone know if the diff from the 131 will be interchangeable with the 131 Spider diff? Cheers Noel

the 131 used drum brakes rather than disc, and the ratios are different.
