Glue
I'm looking for a strong cement to glue canvas to metal for a convertible to installation. Something like contact cement but it has to allow me some time to move the canvas around before it sets up. Any suggestions? RB

Re: Glue
HH-66 vinyl cement. Sets up in a few minutes, so work quickly.

Re: Glue - update?
A "bump" and request for an update:
Did the HH-66 vinyl cement, keep the fabric of the convertible top attached the the metal (I guess rear "windows)?

Re: Glue
I just used Loctite vinyl and fabric glue to place the metal rear hook loop pieces into my new boot cover. It's been 2 months and it is holding well. 30 minute drying time so no problem working with it. Package said it worked with metal also.

Re: Glue
The standard adhesive used by most shops that sell and install tops is the HH-66 adhesive.

Re: Glue
With a flash point of 22 degrees Fahrenheit and a temperature range of -30 to 180 you will probably be able to apply it in temps down to the 50's although it will probably take longer to flash off and get tacky below 70 degrees.FiatJim wrote:Thanks. Unfortunately, here in the great NorthEast, the weather has changed (no surprise there) to cooler and rainy. What temp. range does it need?

Re: Glue
Would this same cement be used to attach the flap around the center bar over your head when top is up? Mine has come loose and it appears the two sides of fabric are intended to be overlapped to form a circle around the bar BUT it looks lime that circle of material needs to allow the bar to move freely within it. I.e. I need the fabric glued together but MOT glued to the bar.
Is that correct, fabric glued to fabric but NOT to the metal bar? And would this be the right cement to do that. Will it tack fabric to fabric and not soak through to the bar?
