I thought it backfired

I was readjusting the distributor cap when the muffler blew out the side.I thought it was a backfire, now it won't start. Anyone have any ideas? After I changed my pants I took a picture.

distributor caps aren't adjustable. Perhaps you broke the rotor if you moved the cap

Did you mean that you were rotating the distributor to time the ignition?
