1979 gas tank
1979 gas tank
my 79 124 has a gas fume all the time. The tank does not has but 1line in and 1line out. Looking at other fiats they have 3 lines which 1 goes to the piece that lets the fumes out. Do I need to change the tank or what ? Any suggestions will help I sure. Thxs

If you smell fumes then you have a cracked hose or leak somewhere. Check all the connections. Are those 3 connections blocked off, or just not there? If they are not there then you need a vented gas cap, otherwise there is not way for air to enter the tank as the gas level goes down.

The 3 lines are not there. I have checked all lines and connections and no leaks. My gas cap has a hole drilled in the middle and that has not relieved the fumes. I may have to replace the tank. I also has a electric fuel pump also.

Check the rubber hoses in the engine compatment too, the smell might be coming form there.
