Vacuum advance removed?
A PO replaced the points in my '77 Spider with a Crane Fireball XR700 ignition. I have no vacuum advance on the distributor and I'm wondering if this was removed and if it's possible or there would be any benefit to replacing it. I'm currently sorting out a carb upgrade (34ADF) and the vacuum lines that go with it, the charcoal cannister, brake booster, etc. Quite ignorant on all these systems so pouring through the archives! Looking forward to the "seat of the pants" improvement - not there yet.

Re: Vacuum advance removed?
No vacuum advance on my 131 or my X1/9, I've never owned a Fiat with it.

Re: Vacuum advance removed?
Ok, Thanks. The parts vendors describe the vacuum advance as for '79-'85, but I do know they have been used on carburetored (I'll learn how to spell that one day!) cars. Appreciate the help I'm getting from Tasmania! Imagine that!

Re: Vacuum advance removed?
the US fuel injected spider had them, not sure about the carby models
Keep in mind the advance is mechanical, I believe the vacuum portion was to help emission while cruising...or something like that??
