The car is a 1979 Spider 2000 and the only things not replaced during the suspension rebuild were the front and rear springs. New are all bushings, tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings, top body and spring rubbers (front), lower spring rubber (rear), long/ short trailing arms, panhard bar, and all shocks. The front springs were measured and the length was within 1/32". The car was raised with the suspension loaded per. spec. and all pivots torqued. I have gone back and checked the with the car loaded again and left side is 1/2" lower, when the weight is removed it is 5/8" lower on the left. The car is not twisted, the distance from the lower pinch weld to the ground is even front to back, just side to side is not the same. The tires are all the same size and all have the same pressure (28 psi).
Looking at posts from others, this seems common but with no solutions posted, no posts saying "I replaced my springs and the car sits level now". If you had this problem and there is a fix, please let me know or post a link. Thanks!
Left side of car 5/8" lower than right unloaded!

Mine was the same way with the original springs, and now too with new lowering springs. I have not yet dug into the issue. Oh well.

I called a local engine builder who works with circle track racers, he is trying to locate someone close with a coil spring checker. I'm looking to compare the rating at a given length and see if they are the same from right to left.
With the lower A-arms almost horizontal, and the oil pan at 6 1/4" from the ground I don't wat to go any lower with the ride heigth.

Mine had a similar problem so i tried KYB shocks and Vick's lowering springs..... no dice.
Put Koni shocks in shortly after and they fixed the lean immediately and lowered my stance a little bit too.

Are the Koni shocks that fit Spiders gas charged? I currently have KYB Excel-G shocks on mine and I know they have a low pressure gas charge. Koni shocks are out of my budget at this time but are there any other front shocks that have no gas charge that will fit a '79 spider?

Only 5/8"? I wish...
I have a set of lowering springs I'll be installing later this year.
Hopefully it helps.
