You can't do any better than this ($69)...not without some brain damage trying to get various parts to play nicely with each other:

Bosch only makes about twenty fuel pumps, so assuming THAT is the one that works in our cars, then yes. Otherwise you'd better do your homework and make sure that it has compatible physical and performance characteristics, because vendors never accept returns on electrical parts.

That's a great price on the Bosch pump. It's about what I paid for a Facet (Purolator) model.

I agree that it is peculiar that Bosch pump not super expensive; but I did a lot of online research . 69133 is the pump number, confirmed from Bosch website:
http://www.boschautoparts.com/en/auto/f ... rtId=69133

It is sold directly from Amazon; they have a great return policy (also, Amazon web site confirmed it was compatible with 1981 Fi 2000

Just installed new $70 Bosch fuel pump. So far so good. Car started immediately and went to 900-1000 rpm idle immediately (previously, it was chaotic as to how it started and initial RPMs ). Also, pump much quieter .

Pump very quiet; and though only one day, the car has started immediately 5 times, and comes to 900-1100 Rpms within 1 second.

I believe problem is solved.
