1978 Spider, pulled the motor for a Winter project. Valves look burned and want to get the head machined, replace what's necessary (Valves, guides, springs, etc?) Anyone know anyone in SE Wisconsin/Milwaukee area either as a good recommendation for a machine shop or a Fiat experienced shop? I appreciate in advance for any info you can send my way! thanks

The block in my car was machined at Apex automotive engineering http://www.apexae.com/ in Bensenville Illinois with good results.

Heh. I grew up in Bensenville. It's not that hard to find (just look under O'Hare's SW corner....
If Madison is not too far, you might want to call Foreign Car Specialists ( http://www.yelp.com/biz/foreign-car-specialists-madison ) and see if they'd perform the work. This is the shop Peter Eagan often referenced in his Road & Track columns. Chris Beebe, the long time owner, recently sold it to one of his employees, and they moved it out to the near west side of Madison. I've not had work done by them, bu they consistently get good reviews and comments form folks I know who've used them. The other place I'd have trusted the Fiat with retired and went out of business a year ago. Interestingly, both that shop (Import Auto Clinic) and the old FCS shop have been razed to make way for privately owned student apartments/shops for UW Madison.

I've also used willow automotive, in downtown Chicago, a handful of times.

I love going to willow, it's more like an auto museum than a shop.
