Dash Question

Until I removed my dash I didn't realize it was made of pressed wood. To guard against water damage, can the underside be sprayed with a clear coat?

Yes. I do this using a exterior or marine grade polyurethane when setting up bathroom vanities too as most are not sealed on the bottom or backs.
