Now that I have repaired the interior rusted out sheet metal on my 75 spider, I would like to find some paintable interior sealant to replace the tar based stuff I had to chip out to get to the rusted metal. When applied, should be about the same thickness as the original. I do not want to use the stick on sheets, just get close to what was there before. Suggestions anyone??

You might check out Lizard Skin...it's a paintable ceramic coating that's supposed to insulate for both sound and temperature. I ended up using the peel and stick butyl rubber material, but this looked interesting to me. If I had totally gutted my car, I would have tried it.

Is there any kind of a tar product that could be poured onto the floor to level the repaired areas with original (and that doesn't smell like a roof)? Dries hard like the coating that came on floor.
Anyone know what was originally used?

I used spray can truck bed liner on mine. Cures very hard and tough.
