I recently found a short on my FI connector at the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS), so I contacted Jim at Injector Repair Dot Com: http://injectorrepair.com for some guidance. He helped me sort out the parts I needed, and he also sent me the following tutorial for correctly crimping the terminals. It worked great and I now have a nice new connector without having to splice wires. So I'm sharing the tutorial with his permission:

This is what you need to make it, Delphi Tool #12085271 (OEM Delphi Weather Pack tool), or any cheap aftermarket version will work fine. There are plenty of aftermarket crimpers on eBay or Amazon that go for about $30--just search on the tool number. Be sure your tool includes the Weather Pack circular crimpers; some versions of the tool don't have it:
