Replace/upgrade steering wheel

I have a 1976 Spider with the original steering wheel (wood) that is attached with a single nut in the center. I want to replace this with a steering wheel that I think is from a later model Spider that have a smaller horn button and 6 holes around the center hole.

I assume that some type of adapter is needed to mount this steering wheel in place of the stock one? Any advice on how to do this is appreciated.

randy, after you replace that wheel, what are you doing with the old one? if it isn't cracked....and you want to part with it....could i have a shot at relieving you of it? i am willing to throw shekels in your direction for a quality wheel.

The current wheel does have a small crack in it (perhaps a 1/8" gap) in the 6 o'clock position. Once I can get the new one installed, I was going to toss out the old one becuase of that but if there's interest, I'd be happy to send it on for just the cost of shipping.

since you are changing the wheel, does that mean you are changing the horn button as well.

I have a hub on order from a local Fiat source (Fun Imported Auto and Toys in Rockville, CT). Once I get the new wheel installed, the old wheel and hron can be yours.
