I put on the new timing "chain" kit I got from AC; including a new H2O pump and thermostat with radiator hose kit. Put all these parts together very carefully and the dang thing leaked like a sieve where the water pump and metal tube that runs under exhaust connect. I took off the pipe... flange was warped big time, it was beginning to look like a horse shoe, with large daylight gap at the center... don't know why I didn't not see it before and why didn't it leak there before? Maybe I did not see this problem during assembly because I was into painting it a pretty blue
Into the vice the tube went. As the flange on this pipe is thick, Mine apparently not stroked on before, I was able to put heavy strokes to it - I filed about 15 minutes with a big rasp file, taking my time and looking it over frequently. I was careful to keep the surface true to the pipe and file from opposite directions to remove equal amounts of material. After filing flat as I could, I hit it with my polishing bench grinder and removed all file marks and buffed the sharps off the edge. This weekend I felt a trace of antifreeze under this connection, none on the floor, and noticed that the washers on the two bolts were not compressed, remembering that I had not tightened them after letting RTV set up over night last month. I had test drove 40 miles with bolts only snug so I think I have a good seal. I may replace that tube when I get into the heater... NA probebly not. I do have the center support to the exhaust stud and it is a pretty blue
