82 spider air intake for performance
I recently got the original air cleaner box for my 82 spider FI. The inlet tube seems small. Should it be modified to match the size of the rest of the ducting? What intake solution is best for performance?

Re: 82 spider air intake for performance
Many different answers to this (and nearly as many opinions!).
- Some have drilled extra holes in the bottom of the air box, to increase potential intake capacity.
- Some have replaced the stock airbox with an aftermarket (such as that by K&N) conical filter.
The objective is to get nice cool(er) air into the AFM, so I imagine both work fairly well. I've done the later on our '81, angled the filter very low, and put 2" ducting through the front wall to increase the cool air flow to the filter.
