Hi All ,

probably a stupid question , but i'll post it anyway.

pls correct me when wrong :

TDC is when the holes in de camshaftpullys AND the flywheel align (@ 0°) , meaning cyl1 (closed to radiator) is at end of his compression stroke

therefore the sparkplug 1 should fire at this moment , firing order then would be 1-3-4-2 ....

Unlike other cars, when the cam pulleys are on their mark and #1 and #4 pistons are at the top of their stroke, the #4 plug should be firing.

ok thx i was finding alot of info that was confusing

i'm installing a 123 ignition and the manual says at tdc rotor shoud be pointed n°1 i guess i try # 4
need to charge battery first

Hi,

I recently fitted a 123.nl ignition to my 1800cc engine. I set mine up on Cyl #4 and it is working extremely well, especially the cold starting and idling with the dual Weber 40 IDF carbs! Built like a battleship, a wonderful piece of engineering.

I did question the 123.nl office in Holland on the cyl #1 mention in the paperwork and I think that they said (will have to check email on house computer) that it didn't really matter on the cylinder number. Again, I will have to check their exact wording in their email.

Good driving with it.

Nice tot hear . could not get it to work as my battery is dead.

Did you use the vacuum advance ,I m running the idfs too but I have no clue how to get vacuum from them.

I don't think it cares when you respect firing order ,I'll start of 4 and then 2-1-3 ?
No numbers on the distributor cap

Hi Tappy,

No, I did not bother with the vacuum, as the IDF40's did not use vacuum with my original distributor. On their advice, I put a sealed rubber plug over the vacuum socket on the 123, only to keep out any water during washing etc. I have not tried any different switch settings in the unit. I just left it on the position for the 1756cc engine (#1 I think). Maybe I might try another when other things are perfected. Setting it up with the internal LED light was quite easy, once I worked out what was required.
