Need Recommendation for Seat Bottom Cushion Strap Material

The strap material that spans the bottom of the seat pans has perished on my '82 Spider. I checked the sites of several vendors and did not find any replacements.

Has anyone replaced the strap material? If so, what did you use? How is it holding up under use?

Thanks for any recommendations / pointers you may have.

When I was building a gyrocopter, I used a truck inner tube.

I chose to screw a piece of sheet metal there for support. Both seats. With the thickness of the foam, it seems fine.
