crossmember to frame bolt spinning!!!
I swear I searched for the answer but I can't find it. I need to remove my cross member and sure enough one of the four vertical bolts that are supposed to be held y a box inside the frame spins so I cannot get the nut off! What do I do now? If I cut it how do I re-attach the cross member? I've tried prying between the member and the frame rail to "hold" the bolt but it just spins.

You could cut a slot in the end of the stud with a dremel tool, so you can keep it from spinning with a flat blade screwdriver.

I like the slot idea, I'll try that in the morning. Figure either way I'll be boring a hole up top to put a new bolt back.

Re: crossmember to frame bolt spinning!!!
If you end up cutting the bolt off you could use a NUTSERT which will give you a captive nut inside the frame. I have sone that require a 1/2" hole in the frame. I'm travling but, I think the bolt that the NUTSERT takes is a 5/16x18 but I'm not sure. If you GOOGLE NUTSERT and you think that will work PM me and I'll send you a couple. I needed them for my JEEP side steps so I bought 100 and used 8 and sold a bunch on the JEEP FORUM.[img]
