1980 Window Motor Question

I am restoring my 80'. It came with automatic windows but the PO replaced the driver side with a manual crank. The car came with a window motor that I planned to use to replace the crank. The question is ...do the window motors (driver vs passenger) have different mounting brackets or are they interchangeable? I ask b/c the mounting holes don't match up on the driver door. Can I just drill a new hole and use the motor mount I have or do will it not work properly?? Thanks for the help..

You can check the microfilm on the parts - pretty sure left and right were mirror images / different bracket.

Those motors are lousy; even new they were sluggish and noisy.

Honestly if it were me, i would keep the crank if you already have it installed. My fiat sat for ten years and i have majors problems with both of my power windows. The plastic gear broke on one and they kept freezing up. Like brad said the motors are noisy and sluggish, sometimes i have to help mine up. I would rather the crank as a every day thing but if your trying to keep the originallity of the car go ahead and swap it out. Im just putting that out there, not trying to tell you what to do. What motors do you have original or aftermarket?

While you're at it do a relay upgrade to speed up the windows !

Found this replacement assembly online --- looks as if fixes all the problems or so they say.

i Don't know. i'd be careful with all that aftermarket stuff. That motor looks quite small.

The link you posted is for an ALFA ROMEO Spider, not a Fiat Spider.

Yes, left and right are different.
