Help

Post by Eurotrash124 »

I have a 69 fiat 124 spyder with 132c2 040 Engine

It's starts and runs fine but as soon as I let go of the gas and goes to idle it dies ????

It just started doing this after I raced it ?

Sounds like an air leak.

Maybe the throttle stop screw lost its position or fell out. Does the car have an idle jet solenoid? It may be unplugged or the solenoid is bad.

First, and not to be offensive, do some research on your own - these parts are discussed so often you should search the forum first.

The idle solenoid sticks out of the side of the carburetor and has a wire connected to it. You either have one or you don't. Most ADFA carburetors have them, so look and see if there is a solenoid sticking out of the primary side of the carburetor. It will look like a 3/4" barrel and have a plug end on it. If it isn't connected then connect to the +12V lead that comes off the firewall (and is long enough to reach it). They can come disconnected if the engine moves a lot and you have soft engine mounts.

Don't remember which years have them, but check to see if you have a dual point distributor?
There is a relay that switches from the start points to the run points.
