'75-'78 Exhaust Protection Shields

Post by kmoses »

Does anyone know of a source for the two "Protection Shields" that go between the exhaust system and the floor used on the '75-'78 spiders? I don't see them listed by Vick's, AR or Midwest-Bayless. I have converted my '79 to no cat, removed the hump and purchased a exhaust system that runs along the transmission tunnel so my old ones won't work. If you know a source for the shields, please let me know

shouldn't be hard to find used ones, but all of the cars that had converters had the exhaust run down the right side. Only the early cars without cats had exhaust that was routed down the tunnel. You'll probably have to buy some universal shields and install them

I guess I need to find someone parting out an early non-cat spider! If anyone knows a potential seller, please let me know.

The purpose of the heat shield was to isolate the heat from the cat. If you are eliminating the cat and going back to an early style routing, why do you need a shield at all.

To keep the floor pan from getting hot due to the radiant heat of the exhaust pipe. The early cars had heat shields and no cat's.
