Mirrors

The mirrors on my '81 kind of suck. The PO didn't install them very well (they aren't even drivers and passenger side) and you can't see squat!

I adjust them and they shift when I go over bumps. Is there anyway to tighten these up? Other option is if I replace them what's the best set to use? I noticed these on AR and I like the chrome look.

I maybe I should just accept the fact that mirrors on a Fiat are for show only. :)

I have the IAP repro Vitaloni mirrors both L & R. But I substituted convex glass in both of them. The result is zero blind spots.

I found a guy online who made the glass from a pattern I sent him. Forgot the details, but this really is the slick fix for early cars. A great example of "resto-mod".

Purchased from Rodworx https://www.rodworx.com/shop/1955-57-ch ... ed-mirror/

I wired the mirror signal lights through the door to the column connector under dash. The signal arrow work great, I think they look great. The mirror use on the driver side is pretty good, passenger side is pretty limited. I don't know of any mirrors that are really good on the passenger side. I am thinking they need a angled shim under them to make them point out a little more.

So I removed the old mirrors.

Drivers and passenger have different holes.

Passengers

I guess the drivers had an interior control and passenger didn't.

I'm thinking about getting these.

Would they cover the holes on both sides or would some bondo be required to fill the large hole? The old mirrors I had covered them so I'm hoping I'm ok.

I think they look much better than the old faded black ones.

If anyone wants the old ones you can have them. Just have to pay shipping from Ottawa, Canada. I still have a timing belt I'm giving away as well. It was too small for my '81 FI engine.
