Going over bumps I noticed a loose clanking noise coming from the back of the car. Turns out it's the brake compensator linkages. I'm missing the bushings and maybe even the rod sleeve (I have to check closer). Eventually I'll get this...

... or even this...

For the rest of this season I'd like a temporary solution. Some people mention sliding a rubber hose over the bolt. Would this work for a few months? Would a piece of FI hose work and would I cut 2 small pieces to replace the bushings or one long piece and slide over the middle part of the bolt?

Re: Brake compensator noise
For the minimal cost and install time I would just fix it correctly the first time....at least with me when I do a quick fix it tends to stay that way because it is "fixed" then it fails at the worst time.

Re: Brake compensator noise
Understood. I will fix it properly when the season ends and I get the parts (ordered from autoricambi from the States and I'm in Canada). Due to shipping costs I want to do a complete parts list at the end of the season. Right now I just want to drive and not have annoying rattles.Ptoneill wrote:For the minimal cost and install time I would just fix it correctly the first time....at least with me when I do a quick fix it tends to stay that way because it is "fixed" then it fails at the worst time.

Used a piece of FI hose slipped over the inner metal piece and it's quiet now. Hopefully it will last the rest of the season until I can fix properly.
