$4.75 is more than you need for the clutch spring!

Post by zachmac »

I want to thank again this great forum for always making a task easier. I was installing a new clutch cable and wanted to reinstall the devilish clutch pedal assist spring. I'd read before that if you stretch the spring and insert coins it then can be installed easily and when you depress the pedal they fall out! the problem was how do I stretch the spring to get the coins in? I made up this little rig; amazing how going back to basic machines like a lever works.

This worked like a charm, mostly. The spring was expanded enough to easily drop right into place, if anything way to much. Pressing the pedal wouldn't stretch the spring enough to drop the quarters out so I just grabbed them one by one with strong needle nose and pulled them out. Voila, done!

Again, can't take any credit for the coin idea itself, just how to get them in there. Got the coin idea from a previous poster. And the knowledge base grows :D .
