Dip-stick pops out @ high rpm
I have a minor issue with the dip-stick popping out during "spirited" driving. If I keep my shifts below 5500 it is ok, however when I take it to 6k+ that is when it pops out (not all the time, just occasionally). When I changed the intake manifold last year I cleaned out the crank case vent thing and put a new hose and screen in. Any thoughts on the best way to keep it from popping out?

Unless you have weeping seals elsewhere I doubt the pressure is high enough to worry about.
How old is the seal? If they are gummy or deteriorated then replace it. It can get "lubed up" and seal poorly.
If you do not have a hose from the oil/vapor separator to the carburetor then you may want to add it. If you do have it and you are still generating enough pressure to pop out a good oil filler seal then take that vapor separator apart again and clean it.

still, check if it's maybe folded over, or the hose was not oil resistant and has now detiriorated.
Re: Dip-stick pops out @ high rpm
the above is your solution. On many 124 models there is a small breather hose on the intake side of the block that has inside it a stainless steel flame trap formed like shotgun brush. That gets gunk on it and seals the exit path for blowby gases. Clean it and the problem will go away. If you don't clean it your engine will start spraying oil everywhere soon.djape1977 wrote:crankcase breather pipe is not letting the gasses trough. clean it
If you check it and it is open all the way without restriction, you may have a problem with rings or guides. Also check your engine timing to be sure it is not too advanced. That can cause excessive blowby.

Thanks for all the responses. I will get a new dipstick seal plus check the breather hose and clean the flame trap. Thanks, Pesto

Not concourse, but creative, I like it.
