Botham Winery Vintage Celebration, 9 AUG 2015: Follow up

Post by njoconnor »

Pat and I will be showing the Blue 72 at Botham's Vintage Celebration this Sunday, 9 AUG, 1030-4:30 PM. It's located just south of Barneveld, WI, off US Highway 151, southwest of Madison (http://www.bothamvineyards.com) . Our second year there, and hopefully not the only Fiat/Italian car to show this year. If you're in the area, stop by and say hi! Good wine, a really wide selection of cars, and the forecast looks beautiful.

Another great time at the Botham event, and, once again, the only Fiat and the only Italian car! However, we were spotted next to a gorgeous 56 Chrysler Imperial in dark green over cream, complete with original working 45 RPM record player under the dash (and, yeah, it had a Hemi!)! It's owner remarked on the "Fiat-Chrysler" partnership we were featuring. Lots of comments/questions about the new Spider coming next year, and the usual gamut of great Fiat stories (This year's winner: "I had to repossess one of these, and at 6'6" I could barely get into the car to drive it!"). And no one complimented us on our "nice MG".

Had a new "base camp" set up this year:

Much sunnier spot this year, but a nice breeze from out of the grape vines behind us.

Awaiting judging (never saw 'em come over):

Towards the end, Casey, a 124 owner from Madison who we've met in years past, stopped by and we worked on convincing him it was time to start re-entering his car to expand the Italian presence. Later, as we were driving out of the event along side Casey (who was walking back to his car), we met Brenda (BSG), who joined the Forum last year after Botham. Her car was parked in the visitor lot, as was Casey's, so, of course, pictures!

L-R, Casey's, ours, Brenda's. Hoping to have all three of us entered next year, and maybe work on some of the other Madison/Southern WI 124 owners to join us as well ($10 entry fee for you, a passenger, the car, and you get a free bottle of wine. General admission is $10/head. No wine.). I'll provide the shade and the coordination. You listening 124Joe?? :)
