It's Still for Sale, Imagine That
It's Still for Sale, Imagine That
We've seen this before, but for newer members, well, here is one sad Spider.
Take your time, its in there somewhere, kind of like "Where's Waldo".
Poor thing.
You can pick this beauty up for just $37,500. You'll be a big hit at the next FFO.

Re: It's Still for Sale, Imagine That
I cant seem to understand what part of that is a Fiat other than a possible wooden dash. By te time you stretch a Fiat unit-body (if even possible) it hardly isn't a Fiat anymore. Wouldn't it be wiser and easier to build that over a full frame car such as a full size Ford or Chevy? Somebody please explain what i'm missing here, i just don't get its logistics in the making.

The rear shot looks kinda like a Spider, once you remove the bumper and bike/gun rack
Pretty-ugly

1981 124 Spider put on top of a 1932 Packard/Duesenberg Car Kit using a Pontiac drive train. At least they didn't just throw a Spider body on top of a Nissan Pathfinder 4X4 chassis.

$37,500 "I'm so confused". What part of the Pontiac Gr Prix, Fiat or 32 Packard kit warrants the price.

Come on.
Its got dual side mount spares and antique horns.
Youse guys are just jealous.
I'm thinking his best chance is to park it near a big cliff and forget the emergency brake.
Wonder who insures the thing.

What an eyesore. Completely lacks any nuance.

Re: It's Still for Sale, Imagine That
c'mon, guys. what spider collection would be complete without this lightly modified 124.
Actually, there were several attempts at making such "replicas" during this time period. The Myers manx showed how fiberglass could be used to create a specialty car on an existing platform. I toyed at doing the same thing with a 124 coupe, modernizing to look more like a current sedan. I even made a 18" long mock up.
On this particular replica, i'm impressed with the designer having the eye to see how a spider body would give him the boattail look and a windshield that doesn't look like he bought a boat windshield. I would have never made that conceptual connection.
This car, as other replica attempts at the time, have not stood the test of time well.
