The new and the old. My old one doesn't even spin!
So does it go on this way:
Or this way:
Or does it even matter?
Edit: Only goes on one way when actually assembling on bellhousing (as Csaba said it would).

You can still get the all metal throwout bearings. I think I got mine from IAP? Can't remember.

I'm not a fan of those plastic bearings either

Why not? Have you seen them fail? I'm about to install this thing but now you've got me concerned. A/R has the metal one and it's actually cheaper but I got this with their clutch kit. Plastic one is advertised as OEM.

Save yourself a headache and use the one that came with clutch kit.

My preference was metal, but the plastic seems to be fine so far.

Interesting! Thanks for that. The metal one I'm replacing was frozen by the way. Was not difficult to free it up with some oil but suprised me as the clutch was working before disassembly. Worn but working. I'll stick with the nylon one. Anyone seen one fail?

Oh, sorry, just noticed this inquiry! It worked out fine! Folks at Auto Ricambri told me they've never seen a problem with the nylon bearing in 15 years so that was reassuring. The whole transmission rebuild and clutch replacement was an extremely satisfying project with many snags and but tremendous support form this forum. I think it's time I made a contribution.
