When I was removing this cable the first time, it was much more difficult to remove than the passenger side so I'm thinking either the cable is rusted to the sleeve or their wasn't enough slack created when the cable was originally installed.
That cable is not in the drivers side anchor bracket, the divers side retainer is failing and its seized by the look of things so it really needs replacing. Yes you do have to loosen the adjustment yoke to reattach the cable to the calipers and need to loosen the adjuster and reset it when ever you change the rear brake pads.Curly wrote:I've recently rebuilt my rear calipers and to refit the cable it was necessary to completely undo the adjustment fittings at the Y-piece yoke in the centre of the car. Once that's undone there's enough slack in the cable to attach it to the levers on the remaining caliper. Then you can refit the yoke to the central cable and readjust the tension.
