Gearbox transplant
I am considering converting auto to 5 speed (2 litre) Anyone else been there ? any advice. I already have the 5 speed box.
Re: Gearbox transplant
you'll need a pedal assy, longer front driveshaft section, flywheel, clutch assy and of course, the final drive ratio is different.

Mark, can you elaborate on the final drive issue ? One of the reasons I want to change is that currently, on the open road the car needs another gear (5th). Some say it is not worth it others share the view that the car will be quicker, and rev less on the open road. I would like your opinion. Thanks for the response.

here's a conversation that took place a few weeks ago re: manual and automatics. a lot of it is a discussion about auto vs manual, but there is some good info on the swap itself if you read through a bit.
