Quick front sway bar question

Is there a correct "up" side/orientation to the front anti-sway bar? Or is it "flat", without any sort of bend up or down at the ends? Trying to head off repeating my mistake of yesterday (snapped a control arm stud).

I believe where I made my error was in not jacking the control arm high enough for a "loose fit" (the nut I was torquing back on got progressively more difficult to turn, without getting the bracket up against the mounting plate on the c-arm). I'm starting with the inner brackets/bushings, and the nuts are just started, so those are loose. Any other suggestions out there?

Gonna have to touch up the nice black paint when I'm done.

Neil, there is a definite up and down with the bends. I can post a picture tomorrow if you like.
