2 interesting projects

These two got towed in on Friday; Dino coupe to build a motor and reassemble the car, and an Alfa Montreal to get running.

Hi Mark,
Are the dino coupes fender vents functional?
Could you post some detail shots of one of them.
I'm thinking of doing something line that, but maybe a little more simple and flush.

the side vents are functional, but not to the engine compartment. They draw air from the grille, and there is a plenum with a type of flap behind the vent. I'd guess that they provide low pressure at the grille when the flaps open.

So they are used to prevent a high pressure build up under the hood.
Am I seeing some kind of fan assembly in the last couple images?
Thanks again.
Not planning to do an exact duplicate of these.
Just something small and tasteful in the same vein. I figure they can't hurt with respect to heat and under hood pressure.
And, it would appear from this image on your p photo bucket that I'm not the first to think this might be a good idea.

the vents don't connect with the engine compartment at all, only to the grille. I don't think it's a fan behind the vent, it looks more like a type of flap. I'll have to remove one of the boxes to see how it works

I'm seeing the Bertone emblems on the Fiat Dino.
I find it interesting that the styling is very similar to the BC Coupe.

Is it not connected to the passenger compartment? It's weird that it'd be channeling air from the grille area to the side of the car.

Is it some kind of aerodynamic assistance?

If the intent was to route the air to prevent a high pressure build up under the hood and front end, then yes, it would be an aerodynamic aid.
