has anyone ever shipped a hood

Post by DocGraphics »

I need a new hood for my car.

details here http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic ... 19&t=30474

Question, who has shipped a hood across country?
Best way to ship?
Cost?

Thanks, Doc

Greyhound bus will take large car stuff. You can check on line for prices and locations.

I shipped a roll bar and it seemed reasonable.

shipping a hood is a much bigger deal than shipping a rollbar. It would have to be crated to survive. There used to be a Fiat Alfa guy out by the Spokane airport that had parts cars. Might want to ask around to see if you can find something local.

Thanks for the input Russ I will have to check out there & see if he is still in business & if he has anything.

I have also checked with greyhound to ship a rollbar, had very good rates to Texas when I checked, will have to check with them about the hood.

Any other input guys?

It would not hurt to give Greyhound a call and ask about shipping. It's my understanding that some folks have even used them to ship small motorcycles and scooters.

I shipped a hood using Greyhound years ago. I built a wood frame around it, and it was 1/4" wider than their max allowed.
I had to take it home and cut a slit in the board so one corner of the hood was actually 'in' the board.
I don't remember if I used 1x4 or 1x6.
