I think it looks OK. the real question becomes what is under the hood. If it has say 220 - 280 HP it will be a screamer at that light weight.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Re: The 2014 Fiat spider Concept car
I saw that earlier this year, I don't know why they would make it look like a 500??
There are heaps of 500 variants including a convertible.
I think they should either an 850 retro if sizing is the same or our beloved 124 spider....making the MX5 (miata) look like a 500 is kind of pointless unless of course (and as mentioned) there is a big difference under the bonnet/hood

Turn the powertrain of the 500 around, put the Barchetta body on it, and you have a good-looking, mid-engine roadster. This is not rocket science.

It's rumored that one of these will appear in the new James Bond movie, alone with a limited addition DB10 Aston Martin.

Re: The 2014 Fiat spider Concept car
I feel like the Barchetta looks like a Miata. The Miata underpinnings,Abarth motor, and a fresh design from Fiat would be a winner. The rumour is we will see a new Spider that next year.I am afraid with the expense in mfg. a fresh new design ,we will end up with a re-badged Miata As long as it doesn't look like a 500....... I really don't like the one at the top of this thread!

Re: The 2014 Fiat spider Concept car
This rendition looks promising. But, it does not look like any design cues were carried forward from the classic 124/2000 Spider. I see a lot of "Mazda" in that skin.

Personally, I'm a bit more partial to this one:
The accompanying article does not make much sense as it describes the Spider as a sedan "With 4 four comfortable seats, 2015 Spider can load the passengers up to 5 people." and the picture obviously is NOT a sedan. Again, no design cues are carried forward from the classic 124/2000 Spider.

I would NEVER buy the white one - and I mean NEVER! I hate it more than I could ever express in words. In the second article it says there are rumors it would sell for $14-$16K. I don't know where they heard that rumor, but a base Miata costs around $22K-$23K. There's no way that it would a sales price that low.

Obviously I'm no longer in the target market for their products.
