Hi,
My PO pulled the smog pump and then closed up various ports with pen tops and golf tees (no joke) and left some tubes just hanging.
The car runs ok, but I am trying to clean this stuff up.
This year has some oddball valve stuck right in between the cams on the head, and if I leave it unplugged it makes a weird sound. If I plug it, all seems well, but I am worried it could be a problem.
The manual says it's a check valve and it is supposed to be connected to the air pump (gone) and the stock air cleaner (also gone).
It looks just like the one in the bottom left of this picture. Like a thermostat in shape.
I want to just plug it but would like to know that's ok.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 79 smog doohickey
Thanks Mark!
Got everything sorted except one air nipple on the carb right next to the nipple that connects to hose for the distributor advance. It's the same size and pointed slightly forward.
Unplugged the car runs great. If I plug the second nipple, it idles like crap.
Still chasing down where it used to go to and why it wants to be open.
I ordered the China 34ADF and am going to give it a go once I get all this smog stuff sorted.
