Door handle retro or swap??

Post by Mrbimmerdude »

Ok so I like the 80's handles a bit more than the 70's pick style.. So the question of wonder is: Will an 80's door fit on a 70's? Or would is it possible to retro fit them, or will it be better to keep the stock door handles?

The doors with the later handles (very late 1978-on) are weaker, and prone to cracking where the upper hinge bolts to the door. I would not want to retrofit this problem to my car :-)

That said as far as hinges and latches, all doors 1975-85 will interchange. Possibly even a few years earlier.
